Nigeria's First Lady has commissioned the newly completed Treasury House in Kogi State and launched an empowerment programme benefiting 800 women, reaffirming the Federal Government's commitment to improving livelihoods and promoting women's economic inclusion.
The event, attended by top government officials, traditional rulers, women leaders, and other dignitaries, marked the official inauguration of the state-of-the-art Treasury House, which is expected to strengthen public financial management and improve the efficiency of government operations in the state.
Speaking during the ceremony, the First Lady emphasized the importance of empowering women as a key driver of national development. She noted that providing women with financial support, vocational tools, and opportunities for economic growth would help reduce poverty, create sustainable livelihoods, and strengthen families across the country.
As part of the empowerment initiative, 800 women from different local government areas of Kogi State received various items and support packages designed to enhance their businesses and improve their means of livelihood. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful.
Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo commended the First Lady for extending the empowerment programme to the state, describing the initiative as a significant boost to women, particularly small-scale entrepreneurs striving to expand their businesses.
The governor also highlighted the significance of the newly commissioned Treasury House, stating that the facility would enhance accountability, transparency, and the efficient management of the state's financial resources. He reaffirmed his administration's commitment to delivering projects that support good governance and sustainable development.
