The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has condemned the killing of a 15-year-old herder and the slaughter of 13 cattle by suspected gunmen in Plateau State, describing the incident as a tragic attack on innocent civilians and livestock.
According to the association, the attack occurred while the teenage herder was tending cattle in a grazing area within one of the state's rural communities. The assailants reportedly opened fire on the herd, killing the young herder and several cattle before fleeing the scene.
MACBAN officials said the incident has heightened tension among pastoral communities in the area, with many residents expressing fears over their safety and livelihoods. The association noted that the deceased was the sole caretaker of the herd at the time of the attack and was unable to escape the assailants.
