A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intensify efforts aimed at addressing the growing challenges of insecurity and economic hardship facing Nigerians.
The party stalwart made the appeal amid increasing concerns over the rising cost of living, inflation, unemployment, and security threats affecting various parts of the country. According to him, while the administration has initiated several reforms intended to reposition the economy, many citizens continue to struggle with the immediate effects of those policies.
Speaking during a political gathering in Ogun State, the APC leader acknowledged the difficult decisions taken by the federal government but stressed the need for measures that would provide relief to ordinary Nigerians. He noted that citizens expect tangible improvements in their daily lives, particularly in areas such as food prices, transportation costs, job creation, and access to basic social services.
The chieftain also urged the President to strengthen the nation's security architecture to combat banditry, kidnapping, terrorism, and other criminal activities that have continued to threaten lives and livelihoods across the country. He emphasized that security remains a critical foundation for economic growth and national development.
According to him, investors are more likely to commit resources to the country when there is confidence in the safety of lives and property. He therefore called for enhanced collaboration among security agencies, state governments, and local communities to effectively tackle emerging security challenges.
The APC leader further expressed confidence in President Tinubu's ability to steer the nation through its current difficulties, citing the President's experience in governance and economic management. However, he maintained that urgent action is required to cushion the impact of ongoing reforms on vulnerable Nigerians.
He urged government officials at all levels to remain responsive to the concerns of citizens and ensure that intervention programmes designed to alleviate poverty and support small businesses reach the intended beneficiaries.
As Nigerians continue to grapple with economic pressures and security concerns, calls for accelerated reforms and more effective implementation of government policies have become increasingly common among political stakeholders, civil society groups, and ordinary citizens.
Political observers believe that addressing insecurity and easing economic hardship will remain key issues shaping public perception of the administration in the months ahead, as Nigerians look forward to improvements in living standards and overall national stability.
