NEPC Boss Nonye Ayeni Spent N230Million on 15 Foreign Trips in One Year Despite Presidential Ban

The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) Executive Director and CEO, Nonye Ayeni, spent an estimated N230 million on 15 foreign trips within a single year despite a presidential directive banning such travels, according to a recent audit report.

The report, obtained by Naija Delta Voice, reveals that the trips were made between January and December of the reviewed period, with costs covering flight tickets, hotel accommodations, and daily allowances for accompanying officials.

Critics have described the spending as a flagrant disregard for President Tinubu's cost-cutting directives, which were aimed at reducing government expenditure amid rising inflation and currency devaluation.

The audit committee has recommended a full investigation into the matter, with calls for the NEPC boss to appear before the National Assembly to provide explanation for the trips and their outcomes for Nigerian export growth.

As of press time, the NEPC had not issued any official statement responding to the audit findings. Naija Delta Voice will continue to monitor this developing story.
